BaMidbar Chapter 13
1 And יהוה spoke unto Moshe, saying, 2 "Send for yourself men, that they may spy out the land of Kena'an, which I give unto B'nei Yisra'el; of every tribe of their fathers shall you send a man, every one a prince among them." 3 And Moshe sent them from the wilderness of Paran according to the direction of יהוה ; all of them men who were heads of B'nei Yisra'el. 4 And these were their names: of the tribe of Re'uven, Shamua Ben Zakur. 5 Of the tribe of Shimon, Shafat Ben Khori. 6 Of the tribe of Yehudah, Kalev Ben Yefuneh. 7 Of the tribe of Yisakhar, Igal Ben Yosef. 8 Of the tribe of Efrayim, Hoshea Bin Nun. 9 Of the tribe of Binyamin, Palti Ben Rafu. 10 Of the tribe of Zevulun, Gadi'el Ben Sodi. 11 Of the tribe of Yosef, namely, of the tribe of Menasheh, Gadi Ben Susi. 12 Of the tribe of Dan, Amiel Ben Gemali. 13 Of the tribe of Asher, Setur Ben Mikha'el. 14 Of the tribe of Naftali, Nahbi Ben Vofsi. 15 Of the tribe of Gad, Geu'el Ben Makhi. 16 These are the names of the men that Moshe sent to spy out the land.
And Moshe called Hoshea Bin Nun ‘Yehoshua'. 17 And Moshe sent them to spy out the land of Kena'an, and said unto them, "Get up here into the South, and go up into the mountains, 18 and see the land, what it is; and the people that dwell therein, whether they are strong or weak, whether they are few or many; 19 and what the land is that they dwell in, whether it is good or bad; and what cities they are that they dwell in, whether in camps, or in strongholds; 20 and what the land is, whether it is fat or lean, whether there is wood therein, or not. And be of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land." Now the time was the time of the first-ripe grapes.
21 So they went up, and spied out the land from the wilderness of Tzin unto Rekhov, at the entrance to Khamat. 22 And they went up into the South, and came unto Khevron.
And Akhiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were there. Now Khevron was built seven years before Tzoan in Mitzrayim.
23 And they came unto the valley of Eshkol, and cut down from there a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bore it upon a pole between two; they took also of the pomegranates, and of the figs. 24 That place was called the valley of Eshkol, because of the cluster which B'nei Yisra'el cut down from there. 25 And they returned from spying out the land at the end of forty days. 26 And they went and came to Moshe, and to Aharon, and to all the assembly of B'nei Yisra'el, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the assembly, and showed them the fruit of the land. 27 And they told him, and said, "We came unto the land where you sent us, and surely it flows with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it. 28 But the people that dwell in the land are fierce, and the cities are fortified, and very great; and moreover, we saw the children of Anak there. 29 Amalek dwells in the land of the South; and the Khiti, and the Yevusi, and the Amori dwell in the mountains; and the Kena'ani dwells by the sea, and along by the side of the Yarden." 30 And Kalev stilled the people toward Moshe, and said, "We should go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it." 31 But the men that went up with him said, "We are not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we." 32 And they spread an evil report of the land which they had spied out unto B'nei Yisra'el, saying, "The land, through which we have passed to spy it out, is a land that eats up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature. 33 And there we saw the Nefilim, the sons of Anak, who come from the Nefilim; and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight."

BaMidbar Chapter 14
1 And all the assembly lifted up their voice and cried; and the people wept that night. 2 And all B'nei Yisra'el murmured against Moshe and against Aharon; and the whole assembly said unto them, "Would that we had died in the land of Mitzrayim! Or would we had died in this wilderness! 3 And why does יהוה bring us unto this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will be a prey; were it not better for us to return into Mitzrayim?" 4 And they said one to another, "Let us make a captain, and let us return into Mitzrayim." 5 Then Moshe and Aharon fell on their faces before all the congregation of the assembly of B'nei Yisra'el. 6 And Yehoshua Bin Nun and Kalev Ben Yefuneh, who were of them that spied out the land, rent their clothes. 7 And they spoke unto all the assembly of B'nei Yisra'el, saying, "The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceedingly good land. 8 If יהוה delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it unto us, a land which flows with milk and honey. 9 Only, rebel not against יהוה , neither fear the people of the land; for they are bread for us; their defense is removed from over them, and יהוה is with us; fear them not." 10 But all the assembly bade stone them with stones, when the K'vod יהוה appeared in the Ohel Mo'ed unto all B'nei Yisra'el.

HAFTARAH

Yehoshua (Joshua) 2
1 And Yehoshua Bin Nun sent out of Shittim two spies secretly, saying, "Go view the land, and Yerikho." And they went, and came into the house of a harlot whose name was Rakhav, and lay there. 2 And it was told the king of Yerikho, saying, "Behold, there came men within tonight of B'nei Yisra'el to search out the land." 3 And the king of Yerikho sent unto Rakhav, saying, "Bring forth the men that are come to you, that are entered into your house; for they are come to search out all the land." 4 And the woman took the two men, and hid them; and she said, "Yes, the men came unto me, but I did not know where they were from; 5 and it came to pass about the time of the shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out; where the men went I do not know; pursue after them quickly; for you shall overtake them." 6 But she had brought them up to the roof, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had spread out upon the roof. 7 And the men pursued after them the way to the Yarden unto the fords; and as soon as they that pursued after them were gone out, the gate was shut. 8 And before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof; 9 and she said unto the men, "I know that יהוה has given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you. 10 For we have heard how יהוה dried up the water of Yam Suf before you, when you came out of Mitzrayim; and what you did unto the two kings of the Amori that were beyond the Yarden, unto Sikhon and to Og, whom you utterly destroyed. 11 And as soon as we had heard it, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more spirit in any man because of you; for יהוה your Elohim, He is Elohim in heaven above, and on earth beneath. 12 Now therefore, I pray, swear unto me by יהוה , since I have dealt kindly with you, that you also will deal kindly with my father’s house, and give me a true sign, 13 and save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death." 14 And the men said unto her, "Our life for yours, if you do not tell this our business; and it shall be, when יהוה gives us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you." 15 Then she let them down by a cord through the window; for her house was upon the side of the wall, and she dwelt upon the wall. 16 And she said unto them, "Get to the mountain, lest the pursuers light upon you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers are returned; and afterward may you go your way." 17 And the men said unto her, "We will be guiltless of this your oath which you have made us to swear. 18 Behold, when we come into the land, you shall bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which you did let us down by; and you shall gather unto you into the house your father, and your mother, and your brethren, and all your father’s household. 19 And it shall be that whoever shall go out of the doors of your house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless; and whoever shall be with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him. 20 But if you utter this our business, then we will be guiltless of your oath which you have made us to swear." 21 And she said, "According unto your words, so be it." And she sent them away, and they departed; and she bound the scarlet line in the window. 22 And they went and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned; and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but found them not. 23 Then the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Yehoshua Bin Nun; and they told him all that had befallen them. 24 And they said unto Yehoshua, "Truly יהוה has delivered into our hands all the land; and moreover, all the inhabitants of the land do melt away before us."

BRIT KHADASHAH

Ivrim Chapter 3
6 but Mashi'akh as a Son over His own House, whose House we are, if to the end we hold fast with confidence to the glory of His hope.
7 Therefore, as The Ru'akh HaKodesh says, "Today, if you will hear His voice, 8 harden not your hearts to provoke Him, as the murmurers did in the day of temptation in the wilderness. 9 Your fathers tempted me even though they examined and saw my works forty years; 10 therefore I was not pleased with that generation, and said, 'These are a people whose hearts have been misled, and they have not known my ways.' 11 So I swore in my anger, they shall not enter into my rest." 12 Take heed therefore, my brethren, lest perhaps there is a man among you who has an evil heart and is not a believer, and you will be cut off from the living Elohim. 13 But search your hearts daily, until the day which is called "The Day," to the end that no man among you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we are made partakers of Mashi'akh, if from the beginning to the very end we hold steadfast to this true Brit, 15 as it is said, "Today, if you hear even the echoes of His voice, do not harden your hearts to anger Him." 16 Who are those who have heard and provoked Him? Were they not those who came out of Mitzrayim under Moshe, although not all of them? 17 But with whom was He displeased for forty years? Was it not especially with those who had sinned, and whose bones lay in the wilderness? 18 And against whom did He swear that they should not enter into His rest, except against those who did not listen? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because they did not trust.

Yokhanan Markos Chapter 10
1 And He departed from there, and came to the border of Y'hudah at the crossing of the Yarden; and a great many people went to Him there, and He taught them again, as He was accustomed to do. 2 And the P'rushim came to Him, testing Him and asking, “Does Torah permit for a man to forsake his wife?” 3 He said to them, “What did Moshe command you?” 4 They said, “Moshe gave us permission to write a sefer kritut, and then to send her away.” 5 Yeshua answered, saying to them, “It was because of the hardness of your heart that he wrote for you this particular mitzvah. 6 But from the very beginning Elohim made them male and female. 7 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and cleave to his wife. 8 And both shall be one flesh; henceforth they are not two, but one flesh. 9 What therefore Elohim has joined, let no man separate.” 10 And His Talmidim again asked Him about this in the house. 11 And He said to them, “Whoever sends away his wife and marries another commits adultery. 12 And if a woman sends away her husband and marries another, she commits adultery."
13 And they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but His Talmidim rebuked those who brought them. 14 But when Yeshua saw it, He was displeased, and He said to them, “Allow the little children to come to me, and do not forbid them; for Malkhut HaElohim is for such as these. 15 Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive Malkhut HaElohim like a little child shall not enter it.” 16 Then He took them in His arms, and put His hand on them and blessed them.
17 While He was on the way, a man came running and fell on his knees and asked Him, saying, “O good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit life eternal?” 18 Yeshua said to him, “Why do you call me good? There is no one who is good except the one Elohim. 19 You know the mitzvot? Do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not murder, do not bear false witness, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.” 20 But he answered and said to him, “Teacher, all of these I have obeyed from my boyhood.” 21 Then Yeshua looked at him and loved him, and He said to him, “You lack one thing; go, sell everything you have and give it to the poor, and you shall have a treasure in Heaven; and take up your stake, and follow me.” 22 But he felt sad because of this saying, and he went away depressed; for he had great wealth. 23 Then Yeshua looked at His Talmidim and said to them, “How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter into Malkhut HaElohim!” 24 But the Talmidim were surprised at his words. And Yeshua answered again, saying to them, “My sons, how hard it is for those who trust in their wealth to enter into Malkhut HaElohim! 25 It is easier for a rope to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into Malkhut HaElohim.” 26 But they were the more astonished, saying among themselves, “Who then can be saved?” 27 Yeshua looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but not with Elohim; for everything is possible with Elohim.” 28 Then Kefa began to say, “Behold, we have left everything and followed you.” 29 Yeshua answered and said, “Truly I say to you, there is no man who leaves houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake and for the sake of my B'sorah, 30 who shall not receive now, in this time, a hundredfold, houses and brothers and sisters and maidservants and children and fields and other worldly things, and in the world to come, Khayei Olam. 31 Many who are first shall be last, and the last, first.”
32 While they were going up on their way to Yerushalayim, Yeshua was ahead of them; and they were amazed; and they followed Him with fear. And He took His twelve aside, and began to tell them what was surely to happen to Him, saying, 33 “Behold, we are going up to Yerushalayim, and Ben HaAdam will be delivered to the chief Kohanim and the Sofrim, and they will condemn Him to death and deliver him to the goyim. 34 And they will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit in His face, and kill Him; and on the third day He will rise up.” 35 And Ya'akov and Yokhanan, the sons of Zavdai, came up to Him and said to Him, “Teacher, we wish you would do for us whatever we ask.” 36 He said to them, “What do you wish me to do for you?” 37 They said to Him, “Grant us to sit, one at your right and one at your left, in your Kavod.” 38 He said to them, “You do not know what you are asking; can you drink the cup which I drink and be immersed with the immersion with which I am to be immersed?” 39 They said to Him, “We can.” Yeshua said to them, “The cup which I shall drink, you too will drink; and with the immersion with which I am immersed, you will be immersed also; 40 but to sit at my right and at my left is not mine to give; except to those for whom it is prepared.” 41 When the ten heard it, they began to murmur at Ya'akov and Yokhanan. 42 Yeshua called them and said to them, “You know that those who consider themselves princes of the people are also their lords; and their officials rule over them. 43 Let not this be so among you; but he who wishes to be great among you, let him minister to you. 44 And anyone of you who wishes to be first, let him be a servant to all. 45 For Ben HaAdam also did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life as a ransom for the sake of many.”
