B'reshit Chapter 1
1 In the beginning, Elohim created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was unformed and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Ru'akh of Elohim hovered over the face of the waters. 3 And Elohim said, "Let there be light." And there was light. 4 And Elohim saw the light, that it was good; and Elohim divided the light from the darkness. 5 And Elohim called the light, "Day," and the darkness He called "Night." And there was evening, and there was morning, one day.
6 And Elohim said, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." 7 And Elohim made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. 8 And Elohim called the firmament, "Shamayim." And there was evening, and there was morning, the second day.
9 And Elohim said, "Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear." And it was so. 10 And Elohim called the dry land "Earth," and the gathering together of the waters called He "Seas;" and Elohim saw that it was good. 11 And Elohim said, "Let the earth put forth grass, herb yielding seed, and fruit tree bearing fruit after its kind, wherein is the seed thereof, upon the earth." And it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, herb yielding seed after its kind, and tree bearing fruit, wherein is the seed thereof, after its kind; and Elohim saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morning, the third day.
14 And Elohim said, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for Mo'adim, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth." And it was so. 16 And Elohim made the two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; and the stars. 17 And Elohim set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness; and Elohim saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning, the fourth day.
20 And Elohim said, "Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let fowl fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven." 21 And Elohim created the great sea-monsters, and every living creature that creeps, wherewith the waters swarmed, after its kind, and every winged fowl after its kind; and Elohim saw that it was good. 22 And Elohim blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth." 23 And there was evening, and there was morning, the fifth day.
24 And Elohim said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature after its kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after its kind." And it was so. 25 And Elohim made the beast of the earth after its kind, and the cattle after their kind, and every thing that creeps upon the ground after its kind; and Elohim saw that it was good. 26 And Elohim said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth." 27 And Elohim created man in His own image, in the image of Elohim created He him; male and female created He them. 28 And Elohim blessed them; and Elohim said unto them, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that creeps upon the earth." 29 And Elohim said, "Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed, to you it shall be for food; 30 and to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creeps upon the earth, wherein there is a living soul, [I have given] every green herb for food." And it was so. 31 And Elohim saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

B'reshit Chapter 2
1 And the heaven and the earth were finished, and all the hosts of them. 2 And on the seventh day, Elohim finished His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. 3 And Elohim blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it He rested from all His work, which Elohim, in creating, had made. 4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that יהוה Elohim made earth and heaven. 5 No shrub of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for יהוה Elohim had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and man was not [yet] to work the earth; 6 but there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. 7 And יהוה Elohim formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living nefesh. 8 And יהוה Elohim planted a garden eastward, in Eden; and there He put the man whom He had formed. 9 And out of the ground made יהוה Elohim to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the Etz HaKhayim also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. 10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it was parted, and became four heads. 11 The name of the first is Pishon; that is it which encompasses the whole land of Khavilah, where there is gold; 12 and the gold of that land is good; there is b'dolakh and hashoham stone. 13 And the name of the second river is Gikhon; the same is it that encompasses the whole land of Kush. 14 And the name of the third river is Khidekel; that is it which goes toward the east of Ashur. And the fourth river is Peret. 15 And יהוה Elohim took the man, and put him into Gan Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 And יהוה Elohim commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it; for in the day that you eat thereof, you shall surely die."
18 And יהוה Elohim said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make for him a helper suitable for him." 19 And out of the ground יהוה Elohim formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man would call every living creature, that was to be the name thereof. 20 And the man called out names for all cattle, and for the fowl of the air, and for every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him. 21 And יהוה Elohim caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the place with flesh instead thereof. 22 And the rib, which יהוה Elohim had taken from the man, made He a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And the man said, "This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called "Isha", because she was taken out of "Ish"." 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh. 25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

B'reshit Chapter 3
1 Now the Nakhash was more subtle than any beast of the field which יהוה Elohim had made. And he said unto the woman, "Has Elohim indeed said, 'You shall not eat of any tree of the garden?'" 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, "Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, Elohim has said, 'You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die'." 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, "You shall not surely die; 5 for Elohim knows that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as Elohim, knowing good and evil." 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat; and she gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat. 7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig-leaves together, and made themselves girdles. 8 And they heard the voice of יהוה Elohim walking in the garden toward the cool of the day; and the man and his wife hid themselves from the face of יהוה Elohim amongst the trees of the garden. 9 And יהוה Elohim called unto the man, and said unto him, "Where are you?" 10 And he said, "I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself." 11 And He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree whereof I commanded you that you should not eat?" 12 And the man said, "The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat." 13 And יהוה Elohim said unto the woman, "What is this you have done?" And the woman said, "The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat." 14 And יהוה Elohim said unto the serpent, "Because you have done this, cursed are you from among all cattle, and from among all beasts of the field; upon your belly shall you go, and dust shall you eat all the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel." 16 Unto the woman He said, "I will greatly multiply your pain and your travail; in pain you shall bring forth children; and your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over you." 17 And unto Adam He said, "Because you have hearkened unto the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, saying you shall not eat of it, cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil shall you eat of it all the days of your life. 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to you; and you shall eat the herb of the field. 19 In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread, until you return unto the ground; for out of it were you taken; for dust you are, and unto dust shall you return." 20 And the man called his wife's name Khavah; because she was the mother of all living. 21 And יהוה Elohim made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins, and clothed them.
22 And יהוה Elohim said, "Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the Etz HaKhayim, and eat, and live forever." 23 Therefore יהוה Elohim sent him forth from Gan Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. 24 So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of Gan Eden the keruvim, and the flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way to the Etz HaKhayim.

B'reshit Chapter 4
1 And the man knew Khavah his wife; and she conceived and bore Kayin, and said, "I have gotten a man with the help of יהוה. 2 And again she bore his brother Havel. And Havel was a keeper of sheep, but Kayin was a tiller of the ground. 3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Kayin brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto יהוה . 4 And Havel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And יהוה had respect unto Havel and to his offering; 5 but unto Kayin and to his offering He had not respect. And Kayin was very wroth, and his countenance fell. 6 And יהוה said unto Kayin, "Why are you wroth? and why is your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, shall it not be lifted up? And if you do not well, sin crouches at the door; and unto you is its desire, but you must rule over it." 8 And Kayin spoke unto Havel his brother. And it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Kayin rose up against Havel his brother, and slew him. 9 And יהוה said unto Kayin, "Where is Havel your brother?" And he said, "I know not; am I my brother's keeper?" 10 And He said, "What have you done? the voice of your brother's blood cries unto Me from the ground. 11 And now cursed are you from the ground, which has opened her mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. 12 When you till the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto you her strength; a fugitive and a wanderer shall you be in the earth." 13 And Kayin said unto יהוה , "My punishment is greater than I can bear. 14 Behold, You have driven me out this day from the face of the land; and from Your face shall I be hidden; and I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth; and it will come to pass, that whoever finds me will slay me." 15 And יהוה said unto him, "Therefore whoever slays Kayin, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold." And יהוה set a sign for Kayin, lest any finding him should smite him. 16 And Kayin went out from the presence of יהוה , and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. 17 And Kayin knew his wife; and she conceived, and bore Khanokh; and he built a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son Khanokh. 18 And unto Khanokh was born Irad; and Irad begot Mekhuya'el; and Mekhuya'el begot Metusha'el; and Metusha'el begot Lamekh. 19 And Lamekh took unto him two wives; the name of one was Adah, and the name of the other Tzillah. 20 And Adah bore Yaval; he was the father of such as dwell in tents and have cattle. 21 And his brother's name was Yuval; he was the father of all such as handle the harp and pipe. 22 And Tzillah, she also bore Tuval-Kayin, the forger of every cutting instrument of brass and iron; and the sister of Tuval-Kayin was Na'amah. 23 And Lamekh said unto his wives, "Adah and Tzillah, hear my voice; you wives of Lamekh, hearken unto my speech; for I have slain a man for wounding me, and a young man for bruising me; 24 If Kayin shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamekh seventy and sevenfold." 25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bore a son, and called his name Shet, "for Elohim has appointed me another seed instead of Havel; for Kayin slew him." 26 And to Shet, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enosh; then men began to call upon the Name of יהוה .

B'reshit Chapter 5
1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that Elohim created man, in the likeness of Elohim made He him; 2 male and female created He them, and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. 3 And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Shet. 4 And the days of Adam after he begot Shet were eight hundred years; and he begot sons and daughters. 5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years; and he died.
6 And Shet lived a hundred and five years, and begot Enosh. 7 And Shet lived after he begot Enosh eight hundred and seven years, and begot sons and daughters. 8 And all the days of Shet were nine hundred and twelve years; and he died.
9 And Enosh lived ninety years, and begot Kenan. 10 And Enosh lived after he begot Kenan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begot sons and daughters. 11 And all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years; and he died.
12 And Kenan lived seventy years, and begot Mahalalel. 13 And Kenan lived after he begot Mahalalel eight hundred and forty years, and begot sons and daughters. 14 And all the days of Kenan were nine hundred and ten years; and he died.

18 And Yared lived a hundred sixty-two years, and begot Khanokh. 19 And Yared lived after he begot Khanokh eight hundred years, and begot sons and daughters. 20 And all the days of Yared were nine hundred sixty-two years; and he died.
21 And Khanokh lived sixty-five years, and begot Metushalakh. 22 And Khanokh walked with Elohim after he begot Metushalakh three hundred years, and begot sons and daughters. 23 And all the days of Khanokh were three hundred sixty-five years. 24 And Khanokh walked with Elohim, and he was not; for Elohim took him.
25 And Metushalakh lived a hundred eighty-seven years, and begot Lamekh. 26 And Metushalakh lived after he begot Lamekh seven hundred eighty-two years, and begot sons and daughters. 27 And all the days of Metushalakh were nine hundred sixty-nine years; and he died.
28 And Lamekh lived a hundred eighty-two years, and begot a son. 29 And he called his name No'akh, saying, "This same shall comfort us in our work and in the toil of our hands, which comes from the ground which יהוה has cursed." 30 And Lamekh lived after he begot No'akh five hundred ninety-five years, and begot sons and daughters. 31 And all the days of Lamekh were seven hundred seventy-seven years; and he died. 32 And No'akh was five hundred years old, and No'akh begot Shem, Kham, and Yafet.

B'reshit Chapter 6
1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2 that the sons of Elohim saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives, whoever they chose. 3 And יהוה said, "My Ru'akh shall not abide in man forever, for that he also is flesh; therefore shall his days be a hundred and twenty years." 4T he Nefilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of Elohim came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them; the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown.
5 And יהוה saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And יהוה regretted that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart. 7 And יהוה said, "I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and creeping thing, and fowl of the air; for I regret that I have made them." 8 But No'akh found grace in the eyes of יהוה .

HAFTARAH

Yesha-Yahu Chapter 42
5 Thus says God, יהוה , He that created the heavens, and stretched them forth, He that spread forth the earth and that which comes out of it, He that gives breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein, 6 "I, יהוה , have called you in tzedaka, and have taken hold of your hand, and kept you, and set you for a Brit Am [Covenant People], for a light of the nations; 7 to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison-house. 8 I am יהוה , that is My Name; and My glory will I not give to another, neither My praise to graven images. 9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare; before they spring forth, I tell you of them."
10 "Sing unto יהוה a new song, and His praise from the end of the earth; you that go down to the sea, and all that is therein, the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. 11 Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar does inhabit; let the inhabitants of Sela exult, let them shout from the top of the mountains. 12 Let them give glory unto יהוה , and declare His praise in the islands. 13 יהוה will go forth as a mighty man, He will stir up jealousy like a man of war; He will cry, yes, He will shout aloud, He will prove Himself mighty against His enemies. 14 I have long time held My peace, I have been still, and refrained Myself; now will I cry like a travailing woman, gasping and panting at once. 15 I will make waste of mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and will dry up the pools. 16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not, in paths that they knew not will I lead them; I will make darkness light before them, and rugged places plain. These things will I do, and I will not leave them undone. 17 They shall be turned back, greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say unto molten images, 'You are our gods'."
18 "Hear, you deaf, and look, you blind, that you may see. 19 Who is blind, but My servant? Or deaf, as My messenger that I send? Who is blind as he that is wholehearted, and blind as the servant of יהוה ? Seeing 20 many things, you observe not; opening the ears, he hears not. 21 יהוה was pleased, for the sake of His tzedaka, to make The Torah great and glorious. 22 But this is a people robbed and spoiled, they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison-houses; they are for a prey, and none delivers, for a spoil, and none says, 'Restore.' 23 Who among you will give ear to this? Who will hearken and hear for the time to come? 24 Who gave Ya'akov for a spoil, and Yisra'el to the robbers? Did not יהוה ? He against whom we have sinned, and in whose ways they would not walk, neither were they obedient unto His Torah. 25 Therefore He poured upon him the fury of His anger, and the strength of battle; and it set him on fire round about, yet he knew not, and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart."

Yesha-Yahu Chapter 43
1 "But now thus says יהוה that created you, O Ya'akov, and He that formed you, O Yisra'el, 'Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name, you are Mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you; when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon you. 3 For I am יהוה your Elohim, Kadosh One of Yisra'el, your Savior; I have given Mitzrayim as your ransom, Kush and Seva for you. 4 Since you are precious in My sight, and honorable, and I have loved you, therefore will I give men for you, and peoples for your life. 5 Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your seed from the east, and gather you from the west; 6 I will say to the north, 'Give up,' and to the south, 'Keep not back, bring My sons from afar, and My daughters from the end of the earth; 7 every one that is called by My Name, and whom I have created for My glory, I have formed him, yes, I have made him'. 8 The blind people that have eyes shall be brought forth, and the deaf that have ears. 9 All the nations are gathered together, and the peoples are assembled; who among them can declare this, and announce to us former things? Let them bring their witnesses, that they may be justified; and let them hear, and say, 'It is truth.' 10 You are My witnesses, says יהוה , and My servant whom I have chosen; that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He; before Me there was no god formed, neither shall any be after Me.

BRIT KHADASHAH

Tehillah 139
1 For the Leader. A Mizmor of David. O יהוה , You have searched me, and known me. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up, You understand my thought afar off. 3 You measure my going about and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O יהוה , You know it altogether. 5 You have hemmed me in behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; too high, I cannot attain unto it. 7 Where shall I go from Your Ru'akh? Or where shall I flee from Your Presence? 8 If I ascend up into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in She'ol, behold, You are there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there would Your hand lead me, and Your right hand would hold me.
11 And if I say, "Surely the darkness shall envelope me, and the light about me shall be night," 12 Even the darkness is not too dark for You, but the night shines as the day; the
darkness is even as the light. 13 For You have made my reins; You have knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 I will give thanks unto You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works; and that my soul knows right well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes did see my unformed body, and in Your Sefer they were all written, even the days that were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. 17 How weighty also are Your thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! 18 If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand; were I to come to the end of them, I would still be with You. 19 If You but would slay the wicked, O Elohim! Depart from me therefore, you men of
blood! 20 Who utter Your Name with wicked thought, they take it for falsehood, even Your enemies. 21 Do not I oppose them, O יהוה , that oppose You? And do not I strive with those that rise up against You? 22 I oppose them with utmost opposition; I count them my enemies. 23 Search me, O Elohim, and know my heart, try me, and know my thoughts; 24 And see if there is any way in me that is grievous, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Yokhanan Chapter 1
1 In the beginning was HaDavar, and He, HaDavar, was within the form of Elohim, and Elohim was He, HaDavar. 2 The same was in the beginning within the form of Elohim. 3 Everything came to be by His hands; and without Him not even one thing that was created came to be. 4 The life was in Him, and that life is the light of men. 5 And the same light shines into the darkness, and the darkness does not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from Elohim whose name was Yokhanan. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning the light, so that every man might believe by means of Him. 8 He was not the light, but a witness to testify concerning the light. 9 He was the true light which lighted every man who came into the world. 10 He was in the world and the world was under His hand, and yet the world knew Him not. 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But those who received Him, to them He gave authority to become B'nei Elohim, to those who firmly trusted in His Name, 13 those who are not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but born of Elohim. 14 And HaDavar became a Body and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, a glory like that of the first-born of Ha'Av, full of compassion and truth.
15 Yokhanan witnessed concerning Him and cried and said, “This is the one of whom I said ‘He is coming after me, and yet He is ahead of me, because He was before me.'” 16 And of his fullness we have all received, compassion upon compassion. 17 For the Torah was given by Moshe, and truth and compassion came into being by Yeshua HaMashi'akh. 18 No man has ever seen Elohim; but the first-born of Elohim, who is in the bosom of His Father, He has declared Him.
