B'reshit Chapter 41
1 And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Paroh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river. 2 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven cows, well-favored and fat-fleshed; and they fed in the reed-grass. 3 And, behold, seven other cows came up after them out of the river, ill favored and lean-fleshed; and stood by the other cows upon the brink of the river. 4 And the ill-favored and lean-fleshed cows did eat up the seven well-favored and fat cows. So Paroh awoke. 5 And he slept and dreamed a second time: and, behold, seven heads of grain came up upon one stalk, rank and good. 6 And, behold, seven heads of grain, thin and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them. 7 And the thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven rank and full heads of grain. And Paroh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream. 8 And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Mitzrayim, and all the wise men thereof; and Paroh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Paroh. 9 Then spoke the chief butler unto Paroh, saying, "I make mention of my faults this day: 10 Paroh was wroth with his servants, and put me in the ward of the house of the captain of the guard, me and the chief baker. 11 And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream. 12 And there was with us there a young man, an Ivri, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret. 13 And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was: I was restored unto my office, and he was hanged." 14 Then Paroh sent and called Yosef, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon. And he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Paroh. 15 And Paroh said unto Yosef, "I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it; and I have heard say of you, that when you hear a dream you can interpret it." 16 And Yosef answered Paroh, saying, "It is not in me; Elohim will give Paroh an answer of shalom." 17 And Paroh spoke unto Yosef, "In my dream, behold, I stood upon the brink of the river. 18 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven cows, fat-fleshed and well-favored; and they fed in the reed-grass. 19 And, behold, seven other cows came up after them, poor and very ill-favored and lean-fleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Mitzrayim for badness. 20 And the lean and ill-favored cows did eat up the first seven fat cows. 21 And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were still ill-favored as at the beginning. So I awoke. 22 And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven heads of grain came up upon one stalk, full and good. 23 And, behold, seven heads of grain, withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them. 24 And the thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven good heads of grain. And I told it unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me." 25 And Yosef said unto Paroh, "The dream of Paroh is one; what Elohim is about to do He has declared unto Paroh. 26 The seven good cows are seven years; and the seven good heads of grain are seven years: the dream is one. 27 And the seven lean and ill-favored cows that came up after them are seven years, and also the seven empty heads of grain blasted with the east wind; they shall be seven years of famine. 28 That is the thing which I spoke unto Paroh: what Elohim is about to do He has shown unto Paroh. 29 Behold, there are coming seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Mitzrayim. 30 And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Mitzrayim; and the famine shall consume the land; 31 and the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine which follows; for it shall be very grievous. 32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Paroh twice, it is because the thing is established by Elohim, and Elohim will shortly bring it to pass. 33 Now therefore let Paroh seek out a man discrete and wise, and set him over the land of Mitzrayim. 34 Let Paroh do this, and let him appoint overseers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Mitzrayim in the seven years of plenty. 35 And let them gather all the food of these good years that come, and lay up grain under the hand of Paroh for food in the cities, and let them keep it. 36 And the food shall be for a store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Mitzrayim; that the land perish not through the famine." 37 And the thing was good in the eyes of Paroh, and in the eyes of all his servants. 38 And Paroh said unto his servants: "Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom the spirit of Elohim is?" 39 And Paroh said unto Yosef, "Forasmuch as Elohim has shown you all this, there is none so discrete and wise as you. 40 You shall be over my house, and according unto your word shall all my people be ruled; only in the throne will I be greater than you." 41 And Paroh said unto Yosef, "See, I have set you over all the land of Mitzrayim." 42 And Paroh took off his signet ring from his hand, and put it upon Yosef’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck. 43 And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, "Avrekh;" and he set him over all the land of Mitzrayim. 44 And Paroh said unto Yosef, "I am Paroh, and without you shall no man lift up his hand or his foot in all the land of Mitzrayim." 45 And Paroh called Yosef’s name Zafenat Pane'akh; and he gave him as a wife Asenat the daughter of Potifera Kohen of On. And Yosef went out over the land of Mitzrayim.
46 And Yosef was thirty years old when he stood before Paroh king of Mitzrayim. And Yosef went out from the presence of Paroh, and went throughout all the land of Mitzrayim. 47 And in the seven years of plenty the earth brought forth in heaps. 48 And he gathered up all the food of the seven years which were in the land of Mitzrayim, and laid up the food in the cities; the food of the field, which was round about every city, he laid up in the same. 49 And Yosef laid up grain as the sand of the sea, very much, until they left off numbering; for it was without number. 50 And unto Yosef were born two sons before the year of famine came, whom Asenat the daughter of Potifera Kohen of On bore unto him. 51 And Yosef called the name of the firstborn Manasheh, "For Elohim has made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house." 52 And the name of the second called he Efrayim, "For Elohim has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction." 53 And the seven years of plenty that was in the land of Mitzrayim came to an end. 54 And the seven years of famine began to come, according as Yosef had said; and there was famine in all lands, but in all the land of Mitzrayim there was bread. 55 And when all the land of Mitzrayim was famished, the people cried to Paroh for bread. And Paroh said unto all Mitzrayim, "Go unto Yosef; what he says to you, do." 56 And the famine was over all the face of the earth; and Yosef opened all the storehouses, and sold unto Mitzrayim; and the famine was sore in the land of Mitzrayim. 57 And all countries came into Mitzrayim to Yosef to buy grain; because the famine was sore in all the earth.

B'reshit Chapter 42
1 Now Ya'akov saw that there was grain in Mitzrayim, and Ya'akov said unto his sons, "Why do you look one upon another?" 2 And he said, "Behold, I have heard that there is grain in Mitzrayim. Go down there, and buy for us from there, that we may live, and not die." 3 And Yosef's ten brothers went down to buy grain from Mitzrayim. 4 But Binyamin, Yosef's brother, Ya'akov sent not with his brethren; for he said, "Lest perhaps harm befalls him." 5 And the sons of Yisra'el came to buy among those that came; for the famine was in the land of Kena'an. 6 And Yosef was the governor over the land; he it was that sold to all the people of the land. And Yosef's brethren came, and bowed down to him with their faces to the earth. 7 And Yosef saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spoke roughly with them; and he said unto them, "From where do you come?" And they said, "From the land of Kena'an, to buy food." 8 And Yosef knew his brethren, but they knew him not. 9 And Yosef remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, "You are spies; to see the nakedness of the land are you come." 10 And they said unto him: "Nay, my Adon, but to buy food are your servants come. 11 We are all one man's sons; we are upright men, your servants are no spies." 12 And he said unto them, "Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land are you come." 13 And they said, "We your servants are twelve brothers, the sons of one man in the land of Kena'an; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not." 14 And Yosef said unto them, "It is what I spoke unto you, saying you are spies. 15 Hereby you shall be proved, as Paroh lives, you shall not go forth from here, except your youngest brother comes here. 16 Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and you shall be bound, that your words may be proved, whether there is truth in you; or else, as Paroh lives, surely you are spies." 17 And he put them all together into confinement three days. 18 And Yosef said unto them the third day, "This do, and live; for I fear Elohim: 19 if you are upright men, let one of your brethren be bound in your prison-house; but go, carry grain for the famine of your houses; 20 and bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and you shall not die." And they did so. 21 And they said one to another, "We are truly guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the distress of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us." 22 And Re'uven answered them, saying, "Did I not speak unto you, saying, 'Do not sin against the child;' and you would not hear. Therefore also, behold, his blood is required." 23 And they knew not that Yosef understood them; for the interpreter was between them. 24 And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and he returned to them, and spoke to them, and took Shimon from among them, and bound him before their eyes. 25 Then Yosef commanded to fill their vessels with grain, and to restore every man's money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way; and thus was it done unto them. 26 And they laded their donkeys with their grain, and departed from there. 27 And as one of them opened his sack to give his donkey provision in the lodging-place, he saw his money; and, behold, it was in the mouth of his sack. 28 And he said unto his brethren, "My money is restored; and, lo, it is even in my sack." And their heart failed them, and they turned trembling one to another, saying, "What is this that Elohim has done unto us?" 29 And they came unto Ya'akov their father unto the land of Kena'an, and told him all that had befallen them, saying, 30 "The man, the Adon of the land, spoke roughly with us, and took us for spies of the country. 31 And we said unto him, 'We are upright men; we are no spies. 32 We are twelve brothers, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Kena'an.' 33 And the man, the Adon of the land, said unto us, 'Hereby shall I know that you are upright men: leave one of your brethren with me, and take grain for the famine of your houses, and go your way. 34 And bring your youngest brother unto me; then shall I know that you are no spies, but that you are upright men; so will I deliver you your brother, and you shall traffic in the land'." 35 And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man's bundle of money was in his sack; and when they and their father saw their bundles of money, they were afraid. 36 And Ya'akov their father said unto them, "Me have you bereaved of my children: Yosef is not, and Shimon is not, and you will take Binyamin away; upon me are all these things come." 37 And Re'uven spoke unto his father, saying, "You shall slay my two sons, if I bring him not to you; deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him back to you." 38 And he said, "My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he only is left; if harm befalls him by the way in which you go, then will you bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave."

B'reshit Chapter 43
1 And the famine was sore in the land. 2 And it came to pass, when they had eaten up the grain which they had brought out of Mitzrayim, that their father said unto them, "Go again, buy us a little food." 3 And Yehudah spoke unto him, saying, "The man did earnestly forewarn us, saying, 'You shall not see my face, except your brother is with you.' 4 If you will send our brother with us, we will go down and buy you food; 5 but if you will not send him, we will not go down, for the man said unto us, 'You shall not see my face, except your brother is with you.'" 6 And Yisra'el said, "Why did you deal so ill with me, as to tell the man whether you had yet a brother?" 7 And they said, "The man asked straitly concerning ourselves, and concerning our kindred, saying, 'Is your father yet alive? Have You another brother?' And we told him according to the tenor of these words; could we in any wise know that he would say, 'Bring your brother down'?" 8 And Yehudah said unto Yisra'el his father, "Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go, that we may live, and not die, both we, and you, and also our little ones. 9 I will be surety for him; of my hand shall you require him; if I bring him not unto you, and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever. 10 For except we had lingered, surely we had now returned a second time." 11 And their father Yisra'el said unto them, "If it is so now, do this: take of the choice fruits of the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices and ladanum, nuts, and almonds; 12 and take double money in your hand; and the money that was returned in the mouth of your sacks carry back in your hand; perhaps it was an oversight; 13 take also your brother, and arise, go again unto the man; 14 and El Shadai give you mercy before the man, that he may release unto you your other brother and Binyamin. And as for me, if I am bereaved of my children, I am bereaved."
15 And the men took that present, and they took double money in their hand, and Binyamin; and rose up, and went down to Mitzrayim, and stood before Yosef. 16 And when Yosef saw Binyamin with them, he said to the steward of his house, "Bring the men into the house, and kill the beasts, and prepare the meat; for the men shall dine with me at noon." 17 And the man did as Yosef bade; and the man brought the men into Yosef's house. 18 And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Yosef's house; and they said, "Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in, that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for servants, and our donkeys." 19 And they came near to the steward of Yosef's house, and they spoke unto him at the door of the house, 20 and said, "Oh my Adon, we came indeed down at the first time to buy food. 21 And it came to pass, when we came to the lodging-place, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight; and we have brought it back in our hand. 22 And other money have we brought down in our hand to buy food. We know not who put our money in our sacks." 23 And he said, "Shalom to you, fear not; your Elohim, and the Elohim of your father, has given you treasure in your sacks; I had your money." And he brought Shimon out unto them. 24 And the man brought the men into Yosef's house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their donkeys provision. 25 And they made ready the present against Yosef's coming at noon; for they heard that they should eat bread there.
26 And when Yosef came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed down to him to the earth. 27 And he asked them of their welfare, and said, "Is your father well, the old man of whom you spoke? Is he yet alive?" 28 And they said, "Your servant our father is well, he is yet alive." And they bowed the head, and made obeisance. 29 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw Binyamin his brother, his mother's son, and said, "Is this your youngest brother of whom you spoke unto me?" And he said, "Elohim be gracious unto you, my son." 30 And Yosef made haste, for his heart yearned toward his brother and he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there. 31 And he washed his face, and came out; and he refrained himself, and said, "Set on bread." 32 And they set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Mitzrim that did eat with him, by themselves; because the Mitzrim might not eat bread with the Ivrim; for that is an abomination unto the Mitzrim. 33 And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth; and the men marveled one with another. 34 And portions were taken unto them from before him; but Binyamin's portion was five times so much as any of theirs. And they drank, and were merry with him.

B'reshit Chapter 44
1 And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, "Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man's money in his sack's mouth. 2 And put my goblet, the silver goblet, in the sack's mouth of the youngest, and his grain money." And he did according to the word that Yosef had spoken. 3 As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their donkeys. 4 And when they were gone out of the city, and were not yet far off, Yosef said unto his steward, "Up, follow after the men; and when you overtake them, say unto them, 'Why have you rewarded evil for good? 5 Is not this it in which my Adon drinks, and whereby he indeed divines? You have done evil in so doing." 6 And he overtook them, and he spoke unto them these words. 7 And they said unto him, "Why does my Adon speak such words as these? Far be it from your servants that they should do such a thing. 8 Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks' mouths, we brought back unto you out of the land of Kena'an; how then should we steal out of your Adon's house silver or gold? 9 With whoever of your servants it is found, let him die, and we also will be my Adon's servants." 10 And he said, "Now also let it be according unto your words: he with whom it is found shall be my servant; and you shall be blameless." 11 Then they hastened, and took down every man his sack to the ground, and opened every man his sack. 12 And he searched, beginning at the eldest, and leaving off at the youngest; and the goblet was found in Binyamin's sack. 13 And they rent their clothes, and laded every man his donkey, and returned to the city. 14 And Yehudah and his brethren came to Yosef's house, and he was yet there; and they fell before him on the ground. 15 And Yosef said unto them, "What deed is this that you have done? Know you not that such a man as I will indeed divine?" 16 And Yehudah said, "What shall we say unto my Adon? What shall we speak, or how shall we clear ourselves? Elohim has found out the iniquity of your servants; behold, we are my Adon's servants, both we, and he also in whose hand the cup is found." 17 And he said, "Far be it from me that I should do so; the man in whose hand the goblet is found, he shall be my servant; but as for you, get you up in shalom unto your father."

Melakhim Alef Chapter 3
15 And Shlomo awoke, and, behold, it was a dream; and he came to Yerushalayim, and stood before the Aron HaBrit יהוה , and offered up Olot, and offered Sh'lamim, and made a feast to all his servants.
16 Then came there two women that were harlots, unto HaMelekh, and stood before him. 17 And the one woman said, "Oh, my Adon, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house. 18 And it came to pass the third day after I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also; and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house. 19 And this woman's child died in the night; because she laid upon it. 20 And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while your handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom. 21 And when I rose in the morning to nurse my child, behold, it was dead; but when I had looked well at it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, whom I did bear." 22 And the other woman said, "No; but the living is my son, and the dead is your son." And this one said, "No; but the dead is your son, and the living is my son." Thus they spoke before HaMelekh. 23 Then said HaMelekh, "The one says, 'This is my son that lives, and your son is the dead'; and the other says, 'No, but your son is the dead, and my son is the living'."
24 And HaMelekh said, "Fetch me a sword." And they brought a sword before HaMelekh. 25 And HaMelekh said, "Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other." 26 Then spoke the woman, whose the living child was, unto HaMelekh, for her heart yearned upon her son, and she said, "Oh, my Adon, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it." But the other said, "It shall be neither mine nor yours; divide it." 27 Then HaMelekh answered and said, "Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof." 28 And all Yisra'el heard of the judgment which HaMelekh had judged; and they feared HaMelekh; for they saw that the wisdom of Elohim was in him, to do justice.

Tehillim Chapter 40
1 For the Leader. A Mizmor of David.
2 I waited patiently for יהוה; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
3 He brought me up also out of the tumultuous pit, out of the miry clay; and He set my feet upon a Rock, He established my goings.
4 And He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our Elohim; many shall see, and fear, and shall trust in יהוה .
5 Happy is the man that has made יהוה his trust, and has not turned unto the arrogant, nor unto such as fall away treacherously.
6 Many things have You done, O יהוה my Elohim, even Your wonderful works, and Your thoughts toward us; there is none to be compared unto You! If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be told.
7 Zevakh and Minkhah You have no delight in; ["A Body have you prepared for me" (from the Aramaic Targums)] my ears have You opened; Olah and Khata'ah have You not required.
8 Then said I, "Lo, I am come! In the scroll, a Sefer is written concerning me;
9 I delight to do Your will, O my Elohim; yes, Your Torah is in my inmost parts."
10 I have declared righteousness in the great congregation, lo, I did not refrain my lips; O יהוה , You know.
11 I have not hidden Your tzedaka within my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and Your Salvation; I have not concealed Your compassion and Your truth from the great congregation.
12 You, O יהוה , will not withhold Your mercies from me; let Your compassion and Your truth continually preserve me.
13 For innumerable evils have encompassed me, my iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart has failed me.
14 Be pleased, O יהוה , to deliver me; O יהוה , make haste to help me.
15 Let them be ashamed and abashed together that seek after my soul to sweep it away; let them be turned backward and brought to confusion that delight in my hurt.
16 Let them be appalled by reason of their shame that say unto me, "Aha, aha."
17 Let all those that seek You rejoice and be glad in You; let such as love Your Salvation say continually, " יהוה be magnified."
18 But, as for me, that am poor and needy, Adonai will account it unto me; You are my help and my deliverer; O my Elohim, tarry not.

Luka Chapter 4
16 And He came to Natzrat, where he had been brought up; and He entered the Beit K’nesset on Yom HaShabbat, as was His custom, and stood up to read. 17 And the book of Yesha-Yahu HaNavi was given to Him. And Yeshua opened the book and found the place where it is written, 18 “The Ru'akh of יהוה is upon me; because of this He has anointed me to declare good news to the poor; and He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, and to proclaim release to the captives and sight to the blind; to strengthen with forgiveness those who are oppressed, 19 and to declare year of the favor of יהוה .” And 20 He rolled up the scroll and gave it to the attendant, and went and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the Beit K’nesset were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today, this scripture is fulfilled in your ears.” 22 And all testified about Him, and were amazed by the words of grace which came out of His mouth. And they said, “Is not this man the son of Yosef?” 23 Yeshua said to them, “You might probably tell me this mashal, ‘Physician, heal yourself; and all that we heard you did in K’far Nakhum, do also here in your own city.'” 24 Then He said, “Truly I say to you, no navi is acceptable in his own city. 25 For truly I say to you, there were many widows in Yisra’el in the days of Eli-Yahu HaNavi when Heaven was closed for three years and six months and there was a great famine throughout the land; 26 yet Eli-Yahu was not sent to one of them, but to Zarefat of Tzaidan, to a widow. 27 And there were many lepers in Yisra’el in the days of Elisha HaNavi, and yet not one of them was cleansed except Na’aman the Arami.” 28 When those who were in the Beit K’nesset heard these things, they were all filled with anger. 29 And they rose up and took Him outside the city, and brought Him to the edge of the mountain on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down from a cliff. 30 But He passed through the midst of them and went away.
31 And He went down to K’far Nakhum, a city of the Galil, and He taught them on each Shabbat. | לוקא פרק ד

Ma’asei HaShlikhim Chapter 7
37 This is the Moshe who said to B'nei Yisra’el, ' יהוה your Elohim will raise up for you a Navi like me from among your brethren; give heed to Him.' 38 It was he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the Malakh who spoke to him and to our fathers in Har Sinai. He is the one who received the living words to give to us. 39 Yet our fathers would not listen to him, but they left him, and in their hearts turned towards Mitzrayim. 40 They said to Aharon, ‘Make us gods to go before us, for this very Moshe who brought us out of the land of Mitzrayim, we do not know what has become of him.' 41 And they made a calf for themselves in those days and offered sacrifices to idols, and were pleased with the work of their hands.”
42 “Then Elohim turned and gave them up that they might worship the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the Nevi'im, ‘O B’nei Yisra’el, why have you offered me slain creatures or sacrifices during the period of forty years in the wilderness? 43 Indeed you have borne the tabernacle of Malkom and the star of the god Refan; and you have made images to worship them; therefore I will remove you beyond Bavel.' 44 Behold the Mishkan HaEdut of our fathers was in the wilderness just as יהוה , who spoke to Moshe, had commanded him to make it after the pattern which he had shown him. 45 And this very Mishkan, our fathers, together with Yehoshua, brought into the land which Elohim took away from the peoples whom He drove out before them and gave it to them for an inheritance, and it was handed down until the days of David, 46 who found favor before Elohim and asked that he might find a dwelling place for the Elohim of Ya’akov. 47 But Shlomo built Elohim a house. 48 Yet Elyon did not dwell in temples made with hands, for as HaNavi had said, 49 ‘Heaven is my throne, and the earth is the footstool under my feet. What kind of house will you build me, says יהוה , or where is the place of my rest? 50 Behold, has not my hand made all these things?'” | מעשי השליחים פרק ז
